Speech Meet
November 7, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am
Our annual speech meet provides an opportunity for students to practice some of the skills necessary for becoming comfortable and articulate in front of an audience. It is required for full-time students and optional for homeschool partners. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the speech meet. Selections–which will be presented from memory–may come from poetry, ecclesiastical sources (scriptural, liturgical, patristic, etc.), political speeches, fables, or, for kindergarteners, nursery rhymes. All material must be in good taste and should reflect a spirit of beauty and loveliness which brings light and joy (perhaps even laughter) to the soul.
The classroom rounds will begin at 8:20 a.m. (Gr. K-2 and 5-8) and 8:30 a.m. (Gr. 3-4). Students should come to school in their dress uniforms and remember to pack gym clothes if they have P.E. in the afternoon.
